I was looking through some travel sketches that I drew while on a trip to China in 2019 (pre COVID) and was inspired to do a pastel painting from a sketch done very quickly while traveling by boat up the Yangtze River. 

I always carry a small 3X5 Stillman & Birn, Delta Series, watercolor sketch pad and a couple of Acurit Professional Waterproof Technical Pens so that it’s easier to capture a moment, in a moment.  I take notes  and a photo so that when I have more time later, I can add a little QOR watercolor.  The sketch:

For the painting I used Fariano Tizano pastel paper, Nupastel Prismacolor hard pastels, and Jack Richeson, handrolled, soft pastels :
